THE POWER OF CONNECTION

​

Physicians and clinicians dedicate their lives to caring for patients, but are often perceived as lacking in compassion, empathy, or bedside manner. In this session, participants will learn specific behaviors and concise language to achieve connection with every patient every time to develop trust, promote patient honesty, adherence to instructions, and ultimately lead to better outcomes. Dr. Lorio draws on 30 years of experience as a clinician, physician leader, physician executive coach, and consultant to demonstrate and teach the skills needed to create powerful human connections.  

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the difference between displaying empathy and compassion, and how each plays a role in creating a patient connection.

  2. Develop the skills and behaviors to make human connections with every patient, every time, leading to better healthcare outcomes. ​

 

 

UNDERSTANDING THE PHYSICIAN/CLINICIAN OF TODAY

Healthcare organizations can struggle to keep and engage physicians and clinicians when they don’t fully understand their needs. Knowing that physician leadership and engagement are crucial to organizational success and that burnout is prevalent and costly for organizations, executive and senior-level leaders benefit from a deeper understanding of physicians’ /clinicians’ needs.  In this session, leaders will learn about both the traditional and the latest challenges physicians and clinicians face, and how the organization would benefit from addressing their needs and leveraging their leadership to transform the organization. Dr. Lorio draws on her 30 years of experience as a clinician, physician leader, and physician executive coach to outline the challenges physicians/providers face and how the organization can best support and engage them in leading through transformational change.
