Dr. Chantal Lorio has 30 years of practice experience, 21 years of physician leadership experience, and 10 years of coaching experience. Dr. Lorio is known for fostering a culture of patient-centered care. She is passionate about empathic communication to create strong human connections. As an executive coach, she has coached and trained thousands of physician leaders and providers on leadership, communication skills, and cultural transformation. She has engaged healthcare teams in 22 US states and Canada.
She served as System Medical Director of Patient Experience for the Ochsner Health System until December 2021. In this role, she was responsible for coaching physicians in leadership and patient experience, and she led the organization to the top quartile nationally in experience of care by 2021. In addition, she was the Associate Medical Director of Wound Care and the System Chair of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery for Ochsner Health. She also worked for 7 years as a healthcare coach and consultant for Huron Consulting Group.
Dr. Lorio is the past president of the Louisiana Podiatric Medical Association and is on the Advisory Committee to the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. Prior to Ochsner, Dr. Lorio worked at East Jefferson General Hospital, serving as Medical Director of the Wound Center (2007-2009) and Chief of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery (2002-2003, 2009), and at Tulane Lakeside Hospital, serving as Podiatric Surgical Residency Director 2002-2003).
